dMAT preparation in Pune

dMAT preparation in Pune for German Master's applicants

The dMAT (digital Master Test) is a study aptitude test from g.a.s.t. in Germany. Indian graduates in engineering, commerce, economics and business who apply through APS India for a German Master's starting in summer semester 2027 or later need it, with the General Academic Module. It has a Core Module of three 25-minute subtests and a 90-minute subject module, taken digitally with no notes. Anannt prepares Pune students one-to-one and through its own dMAT practice platform.

Anannt's dMAT practice platform

Anannt built dmat.anannt.ae for dMAT practice. It is independent preparation material, not official g.a.s.t. papers.

  • Five full-length practice papers at the official timing
  • Section clocks and drills for Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares
  • General Academic Module practice passages
  • A study plan and score history, plus two short timed samples to try first

What is the dMAT?

The dMAT (Digitaler Mastertest, or digital Master Test) is run by g.a.s.t. in Bochum, Germany, and was developed with the universities of Ulm and Kassel. It lets German universities compare international Master's applicants from different education systems on one standard test.

From 2026 the dMAT is part of the APS document verification for graduates of Indian universities. According to APS India and g.a.s.t., applicants whose previous degree is in engineering, commerce, accounting, finance, economics, business or management and who aim for summer semester 2027 or later must take the dMAT with the General Academic Module, unless an APS exemption applies.

Results are reported as a percentile rank and as a dMAT score from 0 to 200 with a mean of 100, given separately for the Core Module and the subject module, plus a total. The certificate does not expire, and each university decides how it uses the result.

How the dMAT is structured

The Core Module tests general cognitive and analytical skills. The subject module tests how well those skills transfer to academic problems. These timings are from the g.a.s.t. General Academic Module preparatory materials dated 2 September 2026.

The test is taken on a computer at a g.a.s.t. test centre, and notes are not allowed at any point. Subject module texts can include figures, tables and formulas, and topics range across mathematics, computing, natural sciences, engineering, business, economics, social sciences and humanities.

Registration, payment and test centre booking are handled by g.a.s.t. APS India lists a fee of 150 euros and test centres in Indian cities including Pune. The first India sitting was on 26 September 2026. g.a.s.t. announces further dates on its registration portal.

Getting from APS to the dMAT test day

  1. 1Check on the APS India website whether your degree field and APS registration date mean you need the dMAT.
  2. 2Register with g.a.s.t., pay the fee and book a seat at a test centre. You need a valid passport as ID.
  3. 3Prepare with the official g.a.s.t. materials and timed practice without notes.
  4. 4Take the test, download the certificate from the g.a.s.t. portal and include it in your APS application.

How Anannt prepares students for the dMAT

Pathway check first

We read the current APS India and university pages with you to confirm that you need the dMAT and which module applies.

Core Module diagnostic

A timed sample on our practice platform shows how you handle figure rules, mental equations and grid constraints today.

Practice without notes

Every drill follows the no-notes rule, so the habits you build are the ones the test day allows.

Academic reading under time

Practice on dense texts with tables and formulas for the 90-minute General Academic Module.

Germany plan alongside

Test timing is planned next to APS documents, language proof and application deadlines for your target intake.

What each task type asks

  • Figure Sequences: spot how figures move, rotate or change colour, then choose the next two matrices
  • Mathematical Equations: find the value of each letter (a whole number from 1 to 20) in a system of equations, in your head
  • Latin Squares: name the letter in the marked cell of a 5 by 5 grid where each letter appears once per row and column
  • General Academic Module: read an academic text and answer single-choice questions about it

Frequently asked questions

Who has to take the dMAT?

According to APS India, graduates of Indian universities with a previous degree in engineering, commerce, accounting, finance, economics, business or management who apply for a German Master's starting in summer semester 2027 or later, and who completed APS online registration on or after 29 June 2026. Exemptions include Bachelor's and PhD applicants and officially confirmed exchange or double-degree programmes. Check the APS India page for the full list.

Who runs the dMAT?

g.a.s.t. (Gesellschaft für Akademische Studienvorbereitung und Testentwicklung) in Bochum, Germany, handles registration, payment, test centres and certificates. APS India remains responsible for APS document verification. Anannt is not the test provider.

What is the format of the dMAT?

A Core Module with three subtests (Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares, each 20 tasks in 25 minutes), a 30-minute break, and a 90-minute subject module. Applicants through APS India take the General Academic Module. Notes are not allowed at any point.

How is the dMAT scored?

You receive a percentile rank and a dMAT score from 0 to 200 with a mean of 100, separately for the Core Module and the subject module. The total score is the sum of the two. The certificate is valid without a time limit.

Can I take the dMAT in Pune, and what does it cost?

APS India lists Pune among the Indian test centres, with seats offered first come, first served. The fee listed by APS India is 150 euros, paid to g.a.s.t. by PayPal or a credit card during registration. Check the g.a.s.t. portal for the next test dates.

What is Anannt's dMAT practice platform?

dmat.anannt.ae is a practice platform built by Anannt with full-length papers at the official timing, section drills, a study plan and score history. It is independent practice material and does not reproduce official g.a.s.t. items. Use it together with the official g.a.s.t. preparatory materials.

How long should I prepare for the dMAT?

It depends on your starting point and test date. The Core Module task types are simple to explain but hard to do quickly without notes, so steady practice over several weeks usually works better than a last-minute push. Book a diagnostic and we will suggest a plan.
