AP World History preparation in Pune

AP World History: Modern classes in Pune

AP World History: Modern is a College Board course on global history from about 1200 to the present. The May 2027 exam is 3 hours 15 minutes and fully digital: 55 multiple-choice questions, 3 short-answer questions, a document-based question and a long essay. Anannt prepares Pune students for the source analysis and timed writing the exam demands.

What is AP World History?

The course follows connections across regions: trade networks, empires, revolutions, industrialisation, global conflict and globalisation. South Asia appears throughout, which helps Indian students build on what they know.

The exam is mostly about skills. Students analyse sources, write arguments and use evidence across periods, which is quite different from history answers in Indian board exams.

For 2027 the College Board updated the history exams: all three short-answer questions are required and each covers a different period, there is now a single long essay with no choice, and the document-based question spans a wider range of time.

How Anannt prepares students for AP World History

Diagnostic first

A short diagnostic on the AP World History units shows which topics are secure and which need teaching from the start.

DBQ and LEQ writing

Students write timed essays regularly and get line-by-line feedback against the published rubrics.

Source analysis

We practise sourcing, context and argument with primary and secondary sources, including non-text sources such as maps and images.

Period coverage

Because 2027 short-answer questions each target a different period, revision covers all nine units, not a favourite few.

In Kothrud or online

Sessions run one-to-one at our Kothrud centre in Pune or online, timed around school hours and board exams.

Coming from CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE

Most of our AP World History students in Pune take AP alongside a different school programme, so the first job is to find out what they have already covered.

CBSE and ICSE / ISC

We map your Class 11 and 12 syllabus against the AP World History units, so classes spend time only on the topics and question styles your board has not covered.

IB Diploma

We line AP study up with your IB internal assessment and exam calendar, so AP work fills gaps instead of competing with IB deadlines.

Cambridge IGCSE and A Level

We use what you know from Cambridge papers and spend the extra practice on the AP free-response style, where answers are marked against a published scoring guideline.

Homeschool and exam-only candidates

If your school does not offer AP, we plan the whole course with you and point you to the authorized test centre route for registration.

Frequently asked questions

What changed in AP World History for 2027?

All three short-answer questions are required, each on a different period and each using a specified type of source. There is one long essay question with no choice, and the document-based question covers a wider span of time. Course content, the multiple-choice section and scoring rubrics are unchanged.

Is AP World History suitable for students from Indian boards?

Yes, but the writing style is new for most. Indian history answers tend to be descriptive; AP essays need a clear claim supported by evidence and analysis. That is the main focus of our classes.

Can my child take AP World History and AP Physics 2 in the same year?

Not on the regular dates in May 2027. Both are in the morning session of Thursday 6 May. Choose one, or ask the test centre about late testing, which is not offered everywhere.

Where can my child sit the AP World History: Modern exam in Pune?

The College Board does not sell AP exams directly to students. Your child tests either through a school that offers AP or through an authorized AP test centre that is open to outside students. The College Board's India page lists Kalyani School in Pune as an authorized centre, with further centres in Mumbai. The AP World History: Modern exam is on Thursday 6 May 2027 (morning session). For May 2027, most centres opened registration on 18 September 2026 and accept registrations until mid-November 2026, and some run a later window with extra fees. Each centre sets its own fees, deadlines and refund rules, so confirm directly with the centre.

How is AP World History: Modern scored?

Every AP exam is reported on a 1 to 5 scale. The College Board describes a 3 as qualified, a 4 as very well qualified and a 5 as extremely well qualified. Universities decide for themselves which scores they accept for credit, placement or admission, so check the policy of each university on your list. Scores for the May 2027 exams are due in July 2027.
